Questions music teachers ask

Can a parent book lessons for two kids at once?

Yes - up to 3 students in one booking. After picking the first student's lesson, the parent taps "+ Add another student" and fills in the next one: their own lesson length and instrument, and their own age and level. The lessons run back-to-back, so the booking is as long as all of them together and the price is the sum; the date, time and location are asked once, and an in-home travel charge is added once. Your bookings, receipts and emails list each student separately.

Can I offer a recital prep session only with certain lessons?

Yes - each add-on can be restricted to specific lesson types, like offering recital prep only with piano or voice lessons.

Do clients have to book through my booking page, or can I add bookings myself?

No. Clients don't need to use your public booking page for a booking to show up in your account. You can click Add client to save someone's contact details ahead of time, or use New booking to log an appointment yourself. That's handy for phone calls, emails, walk-ins and referrals. Price it from your services and add-ons, or choose Custom quote to enter a one-off price you've already agreed. It works like your booking page: add more than one person, pet or vehicle to one booking (if you've turned that on), answer your own booking questions, apply a coupon code, and see your open times for the day - required questions can be left blank, and you can still pick any time. These bookings sit in the same account as your online ones, so you can keep all your clients and appointments in one place. Bookings you create yourself don't email the client automatically. Open the booking and click Email client to send a pre-filled confirmation.

How do I handle students with a weekly lesson?

Use Duplicate booking. Once a lesson is marked Completed, open it and click Duplicate booking - the New booking form opens pre-filled with the same client, lesson type, add-ons and notes, so you just pick the next date and time. The price is recalculated from your current rates, and a banner tells you if it's changed since last time. Future lessons aren't generated automatically - it's one quick step after each lesson rather than a set-and-forget schedule.

Can clients pay me by credit or debit card?

Yes - turn on Stripe Payments in your dashboard and a client's card gets charged, in full or as a deposit, straight into your own Stripe account before their request is even sent. It's entirely optional, though - you're always in control of payment, and can just as easily take cash, run a card in person with something like Square, or send your own payment link instead.

Can I add a break between lessons?

Yes - buffer time keeps a fixed gap of 5 to 60 minutes before and after every booked lesson.

Can more than one teacher at my studio use this?

Each 1MinuteBooking account is built around one person's calendar. If more than one teacher wants their own page, each signs up separately with their own free account and link.

Do students need to download anything to book?

No - 1MinuteBooking is entirely web-based and works from any browser, on desktop or mobile.

Can I offer a discount for referred students?

Yes - coupons apply a percent or flat-amount discount to the pre-tax subtotal, with an optional expiry date.

Can I charge for travel, and block time on my calendar for the drive?

Yes - with location options. The Private Music Teacher preset starts with "Teacher's studio" (no charge), "Your home" (+$15) and "Online (video call)" (no charge). Change the names, prices and travel times, or add your own, under Settings > Locations. The extra price is added to the client's total and shown next to the location on your booking page. Each location also has a travel time - your drive. It is never shown to the client and is not added to their appointment. It blocks your calendar so no one can book you during the drive: before the appointment by default, or before and after if you set "A location's travel time blocks your calendar" to Before and after (Settings > Locations). For example, a 10:00-11:00 AM appointment with 30 minutes of travel blocks 9:30-11:00 AM, or 9:30-11:30 AM with Before and after.

Is this music teacher scheduling software, or just a booking form?

Both. Your booking page only offers start times that fit: inside your hours (up to two windows a day), long enough for the service plus any add-ons, clear of other bookings and your buffer, and within your notice and advance limits. Blackout dates take days off the page, and whether an unconfirmed request holds its slot is your call under Settings > Hours & availability. If you travel, the travel time on each location blocks your calendar around the appointment without showing on the client's side. A booking for two or three students blocks the combined time. There's no two-way calendar sync, texting or automatic reminders: a confirmed booking has an Add to Calendar button for Google, Apple and Outlook, and a one-click reminder email.
